Christmas movies are one of my favorite ways to celebrate the holiday season! This might sound a little cynical, but I love the fact that there is always some kind of issue that occurs in a Christmas movie. This makes me feel like no matter how perfect we want our Christmas to be each year, it’s okay if there are some bumps in the road. In the end, Christmas is about the people you get to spend time with, right?

When I watch Christmas movies, there are three movies that are a MUST watch each year in my family.

  1. Christmas with the Kranks

This movie is about a family of three not being able to spend Christmas together for the first time. While the daughter is off joining the Peace Corps, her parents decide to “skip Christmas” and go on a tropical cruise instead. They forgo everything related to Christmas, even the decorating! Their neighbors aren’t too happy with this sudden Grinch-like attitude. A turn of events occur where the daughter is now coming home for Christmas and the parents have to scramble at the last minute to get their home ready for the big Christmas eve dinner.

I love watching this movie as it shows what a neighborhood can do when they come together. I also love the hilarious parents (played by Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis) as they try to escape the reality of Christmas all around them as they prepare for their getaway. I love the togetherness that occurs at the end when everyone hustles to get everything prepared.

  1. Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmas

All of my friends and family know how much I LOVE Disney so it shouldn’t be a surprise that a Disney movie is listed! This movie provides three short stories into different tails of Christmas. Each story teaches a lesson about Christmas and the fact that the stories are played by the fab five and their families makes it all the more enjoyable for kids and adults! You surely feel the warmth and the magic of the holiday season through these stories and their innocence.

  1. Jingle All The Way

This one is a classic! If you haven’t seen it, you’re missing out on some hilarious mischief! This movie depicts a father as a workaholic who forgets to buy his son the hottest toy of the season. On Christmas eve, he attempts to purchase said toy only to realize it is sold out everywhere. This father does everything in his power to make sure that toy makes it under his family’s Christmas tree.

This movie is one of my husband’s favorite Christmas movies, therefore, it’s a must watch for us! We enjoy seeing the dad (Arnold Schwarzenegger) getting into trouble at every turn as he attempts to get the toy for his son.

Your turn…

While we snuggle up each year to watch our favorite movies, I sneak a glance around the room to appreciate these small moments that we have together enjoying the season. I can’t help but to get all warm and fuzzy inside as I realize how happy these simple things make me!

What are some of your favorite Christmas/holiday movies? I’m sure we can add more to our watch list with your recommendations before!

Always,

Samantha❤
