Our Adventure

Our adventure began in 2013 when we relocated from California to Texas. We have been asked countless times why we chose to move away from family and live in a state we had not visited prior and truthfully, the answer is that we just wanted to try something new. And so, we packed up my little silver Mazda 3 with what we had and drove from northern California to central Texas. Little did we know what memories were waiting for us to be created in this big state.
The initial thought of moving to Texas came from some friends of ours that we had known in high school. They had gotten married to each other, moved to Texas, and generously offered their home to us to come try out something new. With me being such a home body, I don’t think anyone really thought I’d go for this big move across the country. I even stayed close to home for college. But, my future husband and I decided why not? It would be a big adventure to embark on right after our wedding. It would almost be like an extended honeymoon with no set date to return. So, we accepted their invitation and took a huge leap of faith starting our marriage off somewhere new!
While being so far away from family, my new husband and I had to really lean on one another to get settled. The friends who offered their home to us were expecting their first child in just a couple weeks. Needless to say, their lives were about to change drastically. It took us some time to get our bearings, but once we did, we felt more and more confident in our new lives.
Fast forward to today, almost five years later. We did what we came here to do and that was to have an adventure! We grew together as a couple and individually. We tried different professions and made some wonderful friends along the way. And we brought a new life into our world! We are so thankful for the opportunity to write this chapter of our lives.
As our last week here dwindles down, I wanted to reminisce on all that we’ve done here and how many people touched our lives. I believe we made some life long friends here and I hope we’re able to visit each other!
Farewell, Texas!

Always,
Samantha <3
